Allegro Dance Theatre is committed to arts education. In addition to training young dancers, we also try to educate and instill an appreciation of the art form in all young people. To that end, ADT has been providing educational shows for over a decade. In addition to the story ballets we present at the Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center, we have also traveled to many Kentucky schools to provide educational programming.
Nutcracker on Tour
In November and December, Allegro Dance Theatre tours local schools with a 90-minute educational program which culminates in a “good parts” version of the Nutcracker. While our dancers perform the more involved dances, audience members portray Clara, the Nutcracker Prince, the Mouse King and many other roles. In just a few short years, this abbreviated version of the Nutcracker has become a favorite of many local schools. For more information about this program, please contact ADT at 270 352-1333.
Cinderella Ballet
Every November, Allegro Dance Theatre produces the ballet Cinderella for local school children. The production is mounted at the Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center and is fully staged and costumed. Information about the program is emailed to area schools in early September. If you would like more information about this program, please contact ADT at 270 352-1333.
ADT also presents a free performance of Cinderella for the general public.
Dance Education (Kentucky core content)
Since 1999, Allegro Dance Theatre has toured local schools with 60 and 90 minute programs covering the dance portion of the Kentucky Educational Standards. We also offer a participatory “master class” for those schools interested in having their students experience dance first hand. Thousands of students have attended these presentations and workshops since they began. ADT has traveled throughout Kentucky presenting these popular, informative programs. For additional information about any of our programs, please contact ADT at 270 352-1333.
